Networks should be boring. Reliable, not flashy. If your infrastructure is interesting, something is on fire. The mark of a great network is that nobody talks about it at standup.

Document everything. The next engineer is you at 3am. The one after that is a stranger. If the topology isn't on paper (or a versioned wiki), it doesn't exist.

Vendor agnosticism is a superpower. MikroTik, Cisco, Huawei, Aruba, Juniper, ZTE — same problems, different dialects. The boxes are interchangeable. The discipline is not.
04th
Test in the lab. Prove in production. No rollout without a rollback plan. No change without a backout. No deploy on a Friday unless you want to know your on-call rotation personally.
05th
Be the engineer you'd want to page. Calm, precise, document-as-you-go, fixes the root cause not the symptom, and writes the postmortem before the war story fades.
